Idler

I like systems that click, stories with consequences, and projects that become real.

I'm Johny. I give projects shape, build useful things, and go deep on stories, systems, and the occasional new obsession. I build with AI (this site included) to turn rough ideas into tools, worlds, notes, and experiments. I like rules that make the whole thing make sense, ideas with somewhere to go, and making things better without making them less fun.

How I tend to work

  1. Give the thing a shape.
  2. Make the system make sense.
  3. Keep notes that survive the moment.
  4. Make it better without making it less fun.

Co-op

Things are better with people.

Not everything worth building is a tool. I co-organise STARcon, help moderate OaM, and am currently helping put together a weekend of tabletop campaigns for around 30 people. Shared systems, shared stories, and rather more coordination than first advertised.

Off the board

Running and skating are where ideas get untangled. Some problems need a desk; others need distance, momentum, and a route home.

Worlds, games, rabbit holes

Sci-fi, fantasy, and tabletop RPGs are not separate from the projects. They are where systems get tested, stories gain consequences, and a small interest occasionally becomes a very specific new obsession.
